(I feel I need to add a note at the start, I use the term the author in the review, this is character in the book, not Uketsu themselves)
In Strange Houses, the author weaves a dark tale told with blueprints and floorplans, of a family secret that has been kept for generations.
Spurred on by noticing a hidden room on the floorplans on a listing for a house a friend is looking to buy, he calls on a group of friends, such as a Kurihara, a draughtsman, to get to the bottom of what is thought to be an oversight.
Overtime, the reader and the author are taken on a whirlwind journey through other Strange Houses and discover more irregularities that can't easily be explained.
Whilst I adored this book, when compared to Strange Pictures, I think Uketsu has moved a little from the main magic I loved.
I found that I wasn't discovering as much with the characters as I'd like, mostly brought on by the style choice that the author is telling us what has happened after the fact, so we miss out a little bit of mystery.
